Envocore’s roots trace back to 1993, when two independent lighting companies launched on opposite sides of the country: RTS in Chicago and LRI in Gambrills, MD. Both focused on light design and energy conservation.
RTS first expanded to Detroit, then New Orleans and Mississippi, eventually growing to seven offices nationwide to offer coast-to-coast contracting. In 2003, subsidiaries RTS Water Solutions and RTS Building Envelope completed their full suite of energy-efficient services.
Meanwhile, LRI steadily broadened its footprint and expertise, becoming a national energy efficiency contractor. Water Savers was added as a wholly owned subsidiary to provide water reduction, reuse, and recycling solutions. Later, LRI acquired Enlight Energy Efficient Lighting, extending lighting services to the West Coast.
On June 30, 2017, Retro-Tech Systems (“RTS”)—including RTS Lighting, RTS Water Solutions, and RTS Building Envelope—merged with LRI Energy Solutions (“LRI”) and its subsidiaries—Lighting Retrofit International, Water Savers, and Enlight—to form Envocore.
Building on the strengths of its founding companies, Envocore remains dedicated to growing and advancing the energy solutions market.
The Envocore family has continued expanding, acquiring BER (B|E Retrofit) in March 2023 to enhance services offered by RTS Building Envelope.
