BUILDING SOLUTIONS FOR ESCO SUCCESS

ESCO Energy Solutions That Make Good Business Sense

We support a broad range of ESCO energy conservation projects, energy savings performance contract (ESPC) and utility energy savings contracts (UESC) projects for Federal government, higher education, state and local government, K-12, private sector, healthcare, and corrections facilities. We share ESCO goals related to reducing energy costs and decreasing operations and maintenance costs at ESCO customers’ facilities while managing the risks associated with savings guarantees.

We send auditors to investigate the ESCO customer site and our engineers then develop a proposal that includes cost and savings for multiple design and scope options. Our proposals include good, better, and best options, and we walk our customer through every detail of what we’re proposing.

We calculate costs and savings on a structure-by-structure basis. We establish the ROI by comparing the total project cost (design, labor, material, and waste removal) with projected annual energy savings in both dollars and energy units (kW and kWh for lighting, kGal and kW/KWh for water, and kW/kWh and therms for envelope). Comprehensive project management and execution involve consistent communication, scheduling, job site management, professional and vetted installation teams, safety programs, and close-out documentation.

In addition to our financial stability, unparalleled installation expertise and on-time completion rate, and exceptional safety records, we assume the technical and performance risks related to the work we do on ESCO projects. As part of our firm, fixed-price model, we commit to the energy cost savings we propose and take a no change order approach to provide the stability ESCOs need and eliminate cost creep.

We take a whole-building (interior and exterior) approach to support ESCO customers’ energy-efficiency needs, taking advantage of opportunities to improve the performance of diverse applications and system components and the way those components are controlled and maintained.

Our team does the following:

  • Replaces aging infrastructure, mitigates high-priority energy resilience gaps, reduces energy and water consumption, and improves lighting, water, and building envelope performance.
  • Screens and background checks all installers and places a premium on safety and security, carefully tracking all onsite work.
  • Works flexible day and night shifts, coordinates schedules around building occupant needs and unforeseen requirements, and wears easily identifiable company uniforms and badges.

We evaluate variables such as how space will be used, the amount of daylight, electric load reduction potential, dimming and light color temperature, initial cost, and cost to maintain moving forward. We incorporate LED technology, networked controls, and automation systems for offices, buildings, and entire campuses.

We develop everything from lower cost, simplified approaches to high-value smart building designs in order to provide the information ESCOs and their customers need to make informed decisions. Our smart building designs integrate advanced lighting control systems, building automation, intermittent use of spaces, and human-centric lighting systems to save ESCO customers up to millions of dollars a year in energy expenses.

ESCO Water Efficiency Solutions

Advanced water efficiency solutions improve the resiliency of facilities by ensuring a constant water supply, as well as provide ROI-driven results for ESCOs and their customers. We identify, design, and build interior and exterior, energy-efficient water solutions unique to each facility to provide substantial infrastructure improvements, reduce water use, identify hidden or unknown water use, and save money.

We also have solutions for HVAC equipment (including condensers and cooling tower optimization), reverse osmosis water purification, water leak detection, low-water harvesting, xeriscaping, stormwater management, and smart irrigation systems, including design and installation of controllers that analyze weather patterns and soil vapor transpiration.

Water conservation measures may include plumbing systems, stainless steel fixtures, low-flow faucets and showers, low-flow consumption flush toilets and sinks, and shower timing systems. Water saving measures may involve capturing groundwater and then filtering and treating it for cooling tower makeup, as well as installing rainwater collection systems.

ESCO Building Envelope Solutions

A thorough site audit can reveal weaknesses in the building envelope, pinpoint locations of air loss and energy leaks and inadequate insulation, and identify other structural faults that can decrease energy efficiency. Our goal is to ensure that everything meant to stay outside actually stays outside and that everything meant to stay inside actually stays inside.

The audit can cover visual inspections of foundations, rooms, basements, attics, doors, and windows. It may also include surface thermographic imaging to identify areas of heat loss or gain, infiltrometer tests to locate air leaks, and inspection for signs of infiltration/exfiltration (e.g., cobwebs).

We blend security solutions with building envelope solutions to protect new buildings and preserve the look and feel of historic buildings. ESCO customers can save up to 20% on heating and cooling costs when our project delivery teams implement air sealing and energy loss prevention measures.
